I’m a copyeditor with over 10 years of experience. I also proofread and edit at all levels. As well, I have a master’s degree in publishing from Simon Fraser University and am a member of Editors Canada.
I specialize in copyediting non-fiction, reports, and articles, but I’ve also worked on self-help legal materials, health-related publications, short stories, and children’s books.
I was copy chief at the Georgia Straight for a number of years and spearheaded the creation and maintenance of its digital style guide. Colleagues there have called me conscientious, meticulous, and an outstanding editor.
Fact-checking and plain-language editing are a big part of what I do. Also, having lived in a number of different countries, I’m attuned to vocabulary localization issues, slip-ups in translation or transliteration, and the inclusive use of language.
